When security isn’t.

I had an inward view of my job this morning and learned several things:

  1. Most private companies want security because it will save them lots of money down the road and maybe, just maybe, they respect their customers enough to protect their information.
  2. Governments don’t want security because it costs them time and money and they want what’s easy.  They don’t respect their customers (tax payers).
  3. I am not a documentation creator.  I am a Information System Security Officer and I will lead you down the path of secure computing.
  4. I get very “disgruntled” when I do months of work only to have my work undone in a matter of weeks by someone who wants to take the easy path based on decisions made with a limited view of the actual resources available.
